AWARDS
To celebrate our 10 Year Anniversary, we are introducing our Participant Voting as well as Judged Awards.
Number of Awards: At least 112 Awards - All are handmade or hand-designed images except for one of the Specialty Awards.
Participant Voting: Each Participant will be provided a sheet to vote for their Top 10 vehicles (cars, trucks, and motorcycles) as well as their top 5 Tractors. Your voting will determine the vehicles that are awarded our Top 50 and our Top 5 Tractors.
Judged Awards: We will have many classes of judged awards. Each Participant in the show will automatically be entered into a category as well as a additional categories if their car qualifies for more than one category. This is all new this year and the category depends on the type of vehicle (note that some vehicle may only fit into one class). Our judged awards will be hand-designed images in acrylic holders that will accompany a certificate for each category.
Specialty Awards: These are custom awards for various picks as noted in the trophy list below. For anyone that is selected for one of the specialty awards, if they are also selected for a Top 50 award, they will only receive the specialty award and the Top 50 will then go to the 51st vehicle. The same applies to the judged awards. Read on.
Trophy Allotment: This year we have minimized the possibility of a person/vehicle taking home more than one award. While it can happen in a handful if instances, we have reduced the possibility of that happening which is described in more detail below.
Judging: Our judges are volunteers and not professional judges. They have been trained to judge objectively and to not factor in personal preferences. It's possible you may not even know when your car is being judged, or was judged, as our judges will be discreet and will submit results through cellular devices that will be captured and accumulated by our statisticians.
Fairness of Award Distribution: We like to give out as many awards to as many people as possible. There are a handful of situations where a vehicle could take home more than one award, but this will be limited. At the end of the day, we determine who was in the Top 50 first. We then look at the judged categories. If a judged car that scored the highest in their category also won a Top 50 trophy, we will bypass that judged score and award it to the next vehicle in that category that had the next highest score. If no other vehicle happens to be in that category, then that vehicle will also win that award. For the overall best Ford or Chevrolet, this particular judged award will go to the highest in points regardless if that vehicle already won another award.
For Participant Voting, we do ask that you do not vote for your own vehicle and that car clubs do not do straight club voting. We have additional checks in place at the back-end of our process to help keep participant voting fair that will check for situations like this. We do reserve the right to cap awards to a club if we notice such a practice when the participant voting is tallied.
Participant voting has always been controversial and this is our way create fairness. While some may disagree with our process as described above for participant and judged awards, it is our opinion that this method is the most fair for all involved. While most come to enjoy the show and atmosphere, it is always nice to win an award but most don't come for that. Our process ensures that a higher percentage of attendees will win an award.
